Reynaldo Hahn
Works for piano solo
Cristina Ariagno

Reynaldo Hahn (Caracas 1874 - Paris 1947) breaks through the musical world of the Parisian Belle Epoque thanks to his sensitivity and an exceptional talent. After a solid training at the Paris Conservatoire, with his beautiful melodies and his operettas he conquers the world of Tout-Paris. But not only: he is a conductor, theater director, singer and accompanist, critic, lecturer ... he composes several operas and ballets, as well as other chamber music. A great friend of Marcel Proust, he is also a fine literary man and intimate composer to be rediscovered in the less performed works.
This recording presents just one of the lesser known aspects of Reynaldo Hahn production: his works for solo piano, for the first time in one single casket .
The “Arte Nova Foundation”, in cooperation with the “Reynaldo Hahn Association”, managed the production of this important initiative by Cristina Ariagno.
The musician in recent years has dedicated herself to the execution of the French composers of the period from the 80s of the nineteenth century until the Second World War. She has recorded the whole work by Satie, but also unjustly forgotten pieces by composers such as Louis Aubert, Germaine Tailleferre and songs by Lili Boulanger as well ... not to forget either more famous works, among those by Debussy (the whole piano chamber music work) or Ravel. Her passion for “Art Nouveau” leads her to learning more about Reynaldo Hahn, and the many years of research have allowed her to unveil many previously unpublished works, of which she is giving us here the first recording ever.
